What is AI Medical chronology review?
AI medical chronology review is a physician review of a medical chronology, demand letter or deposition summary that an AI tool produced. The physician compares each entry with the client’s source medical records and reports what is wrong, missing or unsupported, or returns a corrected document. We call the service as AI Output Review.
Why AI-generated Medical Chronologies still need a Physician Review
AI platforms are fast, and most of their entries are right. The problem is the ones that aren’t, because they look exactly like the ones that are. A draft can:
- Miss a finding buried in an imaging report or a handwritten progress note
- Merge two visits on the same day, or split one visit into two
- Carry forward a copied-and-pasted note as if it were a new finding
- Cite a page that doesn't say what the entry says
- Leave out an injury altogether, which is the hardest error to spot because there is nothing on the page to question
Missed or misstated injuries lower the value of a demand, and adjusters notice gaps and inconsistent diagnoses quickly. Checking the draft yourself means re-reading the records, and then the time the AI saved is gone.
There is also a professional duty. ABA Formal Opinion 512 (July 2024) says lawyers who use generative AI must review and verify its output before relying on it. AI Output Review gives that checking job to physicians, so your team gets a clinically verified document instead of an unchecked draft.
